A powerful storm system has recently swept through northern Punjab, causing significant damage and disruption across the region.

⚠️ Casualties and Damage

The storm has resulted in at least 13 fatalities and 92 injuries across various districts in Punjab.  Many of these casualties were due to collapsing structures, particularly older and unsafe buildings.  The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has reported extensive damage to infrastructure, including power outages and transportation disruptions.

🌪️ Affected Areas

The storm impacted several northern Punjab districts, including Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Murree.  Strong winds and heavy rainfall led to the closure of sections of various motorways to ensure public safety.  Power supply was suspended in multiple areas, affecting services provided by LESCO, IESCO, GESCO, MEPCO, and FESCO.

🔔 Weather Alerts and Emergency Measures

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued warnings of potential storms and hail in Punjab within the next few hours.  A rain emergency has been declared in Rawalpindi, and authorities are monitoring the situation around the clock.  Residents are advised to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow official guidance.

🔮 Forecast for Lahore

While Lahore has not experienced the full brunt of the storm, forecasts indicate the possibility of rain accompanied by strong winds in the coming days.  Residents should remain vigilant and prepared for sudden weather changes.
